If you live in the Canada area you can easily find some really nice work at home ops. These opportunities are home based businesses, franchises, freelance jobs and much more. I’m also going to include some information about Canadian tax laws as well. When you start working at home there are two really big things you should be concerned about and be ready to take care of. The first thing is taxes.

Thankfully if you do things right you can have a lot of write offs so at the end of tax time you can pay less on those items you bought for your business. Also, make sure you actually pay your taxes! I know this sounds like a dumb thing to bring up but you would be surprised how many people think that just because they work at home, they can stop paying taxes! No, it doesn’t work like this! The second thing you want to look into is different zoning laws about your house.

Since your home will be a large part of your home business, you want to make sure you follow any and all zoning laws. You wouldn’t want to make the mistake of setting up a home business at home, only to find that zoning laws prohibit you from converting your home into a business area!

Now on to the businesses. Here are a few franchises as well as other businesses like network marketing business you can look into. You can also look for sites that have “Canadian Home Based Internet Businesses” online:

Franchises:
Home Doctors Handyman Service – Investment Level $30k
Home Inspection Service – Investment Level $30k
Health Career Agents – Investment Level $30k
Interiors by Decorating Den – Investment Level $40k
Snap On Tools – Investment Level $39,334 – $52,000
Floor Coverings International $70k

Network Marketing:
USANA Health Sciences
MonaVie
The Davis Consulting Group
Amway
Gourmet Coffee Club

Websites to visit:
Yahoo Canada Directory – Business_and_Economy/Business_to_Business/Business_Opportunities/Network_Marketing/
TheNetworkMarketing Magazine
PowerHomeBiz
About: Small Businesses in Canada (tax information)
About: Small Businesses in Canada 6 Home Based Business Tax Deductions You Don’t Want To Miss

You can also search for books on places like Amazon and Ebay, as well as free e-books online. All of this information should get you a little closer to having the home business you want, as well as having some really good information about how to run your business, do’s and don’ts, laws, tax info, etc.

Have fun finding the perfect business! It’s going to take a little patience and determination but, I’m almost positive once you get through the “rough” stuff you will really enjoy this and be happy that you chose to work from your own home office. In my experience it has been one of the BEST choices I have made in life thus far!

Work from home careers come in many forms. Some work from home careers involve devising your own business model. Others involve selling goods or services for a larger corporation from the comfort of your home. Yet other work from home careers involve receiving a college education and then setting up your office in your home. In each case, the rewards can be outstanding.

Work from home careers can take on an entrepreneurial aspect.

There are a number of entrepreneurial work from home careers you can choose to pursue. Such work from home careers involve working strictly for yourself; with no boss or anyone else looking over your shoulder. Of course what that does is place the responsibility for success or failure of your work from home career directly on your shoulders. You are responsible for customer relations, scheduling, finances, taxes and all other aspects of the enterprise. If you don’t mind taking such responsibility then by all means take a stab at such a business. On the other hand, if you don’t want that type of pressure, you might consider working from home for another entity.

Work from home careers can involve working for others.

Some work from home careers involve working for others. Such employment opportunities still involve having a boss and working for a larger entity which will monitor your work. One advantage to this type of work from home career is that it removes the pressure from you when it comes to the success or failure of the business. For some people this can be can be particularly important as they are uncomfortable with running their own business. For others, this can be a downside. As such, it is important to understand your own personality when selecting from the many different types of work at home careers available to you.

Many freelance writers, graphic artists, and computer programmers work for larger corporations at home. Such work at home careers generally entail receiving assignments directly from the larger company. In this way, the writer or computer expert does not need to worry about marketing his or her services or even collecting from a number of clients. Instead, these responsibilities lie on the larger corporation, giving the writer or computer expert more time to focus on his or her craft rather than being preoccupied with the business aspect of the work at home career.

Some work from home careers require special training

A third type of work from home careers are those requiring special schooling. Often, those who pursue an education in fields such as accounting or home decorating decide to start their own work from home businesses rather than work for a larger corporation or entity. A few of these types of businesses would be working from home as a: CPA, Insurance Agent, plumber, electrician, handyman/carpenter, music lesson provider, dance instructor, or voice coach.

Finding Legitimate Work at Home

You’ve probably learned by now that finding legitimate work at home opportunity is no an easy task. There are countless scams which are like wolves in sheep’s clothing. They appear to be above board but they really aren’t. Some never pay at all. They just charge you a membership and thats all you’ve got. Others actually do pay, but after a few simple calculations you learn that with the time you’ve spent marketing their product, you’re earning about half of minimum wage.

It’s time to Stop the Madness.

Stop wasting your time and money filling out surveys for pennies and soliciting others to join multi level marketing referral programs.

If you don’t have young children at home, and can guarantee a quiet working environment, customer service and sales phone work is a great opportunity. Many companies like West and Live Ops which I can personally vouch for, allow you to set your own hours. They both give bonuses although Live Ops does pay about $3-$12 more per hour depending on how good you are at upselling.

Below is a long list of real work at customer service/phone jobs. Some I have actually been hired for, or know other wahm moms who have. As with any employment opportunity, be sure to research each opportunity to verify that it is right for you.

CUSTOMER SERVICE JOBS

Accolade Support

ACD Direct

Alpine Access (Arizona, Colorado, Texas & Utah)

Baby to Bee *Babytobee does not list their employment opportunities on their website, but regularly recruits via classifed advertising*

Beyond Marketing Online

BRG Research Services

Connect2Agent

Connect Plus, LLC

Customer Loyalty Concepts

eCallogy (Utah Only!)

Grindstone

Greene TeleServices (WA, DC only) Greene Teleservices

JetBlue Airways (Utah )

LiveOps

MicahTek, Inc MicahTek, Inc

Niteo Services, Inc.

O’Currance Teleservices (Utah)

RepsForRent

Secure Call Management

Service 800

Sterling Testing Systems

Time Communications (St Paul, MN)

Ver-A-Fast Corporation

VIPdesk

VoiceLog

Willow

West at Home

Working Solutions

XAct Telesolutions

I have actually worked for some of these companies and can personally recommend them. If you take your time and do your research you should be able to find a work at home employment opportunity thats just right for you.
